Installing Whitebeam (release 0.9.34 on)

Whitebeam 1.3.23 is available as both an RPM and a SRPM package for RedHat like systems (RHEL, Centos, Fedora).

You can download the appropriate RPMs from our SourceForge project page.

If you have any problems with building or installing Whitebeam from the RPM files then use our discussion forums for advice or use our contact page.

Upgrading from earier versions of Whitebeam

Whitebeam is continually being improved. It's often the case that these enhancements result in changes to the Whitebeam database. If this happens and you are upgrading from a previous version please check for "schema_update" files in the /var/whitebeam/conf configuration directory.

The RPMs will require a number of other packages to be installed that provide infrastructure services required by the server. Key among these are Apache and Postgres.

Once you've installed Whitebeam through the RPMs you'll need to create a Postgres database using the Whitebeam schema and configure Apache to handle Whitebeam pages.
